So I've been looking through Rolling Stones 500 greatest albums of all time. Here are the top 5.
 |
5. Rubber Soul - The Beatles |
|
|
 |
4. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan |
|

3. Revolver - The Beatles
 |
2. Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys |
 |
1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles |
Now, its pretty obvious these were all released decades ago, and there certainly seems to be a "Beatles Bias". But I can guarentee you if I were to ask people born in the 80s and 90s what their favourite album of all time is, they'd come up with very different responses. So, let me here it,
What Is YOUR #1 Album Of All Time?
One of the top in my view would be "69 Love Songs" by the Magnetic Fields. It's weird, excessive, eclectic. There's such a variety that everyone will enjoy at least a few songs.
ReplyDeleteYou heard about the artifacts ?
ReplyDeleteBeatles all the way. i feel like the doors should have beent there too
ReplyDeleteTough choices man. Right now, "What Happened" by Classified.
ReplyDeletedon't really have a favourite album, but like beatles as you :-)
ReplyDeletethanks for your comment. i LOVE H&M too!
Wanna follow each other?
Gonna have to go with "Hold Your Colour" by Pendulum.
ReplyDeleteSgt. Peppers is #1? Man...
ReplyDeleteThere's so many I could choose. Pink Floyd "The Wall" and "Let it Bleed" by the Stones come to mind.
Such a hard question.. to we base it on what we enjoy hearing? Or what we associate the album to?
ReplyDeleteI don't have a "number one album", but I enjoy certain albums more than others. I also think that having an official "number one album" list is silly, as many people have different musical opinions, and will always disagree.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I hope you keep up this excellent blogging! :)
ReplyDeletethe beetles were cool and all..theyre just no longer relevant to todays society
ReplyDeletemeh to all of them lol :-P
ReplyDeletebut what can you really expect from a house fan?
hehe
jkc
Thriller and King of Rock are the only two albums I owned growing up. They are legendary albums.
ReplyDeletehmmm... that is a tough question...
ReplyDeleteMaybe some Leonard Cohen or some David Bowie, or Velvet Underground?
ReplyDeletegood choices! :)
ReplyDeleteThe album "California" by Mr. Bungle is probably my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI really can't say, as I haven't had an actual album in years, ever since YouTube to iPod converters came about lol.
ReplyDeleteAt the moment for me, it may be Cage The Elephant's self titled album, followed by Mumford & Sons' Sigh No More (English group, they became huge in London). Things change too often to keep a favourite. Following!
How dare you make me choose one?!
ReplyDeletepretty hard... I'd just say the Black Album (Metallica)
ReplyDelete+followed!
ReplyDeleteI love the Beatles! I totally agree :)
If you get some extra time you should totally come and check out my fishes blog.
Ziggy Stardust: The Motion Picture.
ReplyDeleteNever liked the rolling stones list. I prefer The Wire's top album list. Soundtracks For The Blind by Swans is my favorite album.
ReplyDeleteoh man...to hard to choose..but pretty much every album by phil collins.
ReplyDeletebob dylan ftw
ReplyDeleteBeatles for sure
ReplyDeleteIt's really hard to say. Remember that the concept of an album has been falling out of favor for a while, so the more modern you get, the less popular albums in general are. We've had singles, and special releases, and "best of" albums, and now we have digital downloading.
ReplyDeleteThe Beatles are soooo good. They definitely deserve the praise
ReplyDeletei'm surprised pink floyd isn't up there.
ReplyDeletei love pink floyd, disappointed they didn't make the cut, but whatever. followed.
ReplyDeletei wasnt even alive in the 80s. lol
ReplyDeleteThe Beatles are pretty awesome. But i'm not a big fan of the beach boys
ReplyDeleteooh, lonely hearts club. My personal favourite album, as an album not as a band, is Waking Up by One Republic. Absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, nice to see you have a music blog too! Please check mine out :D
Too embarrassing to tell you mine, but definitely +1 for the Revolver pick
ReplyDeleteBob Dylan is an absolute legend for me. I agree with number one though.
ReplyDeleteI LOVED Revolver by the Beatles. But to each his own I guess.
ReplyDeleteHa. Beatles are 3 out of the top 5. That's funny.
ReplyDeleteNot to bad of a list, hard to really make one of these though, to many good albums imo
ReplyDelete#1 seems like everyone's favorite haha
ReplyDeleteVery debatable, but possibly correct.
ReplyDeletei totally agree,
ReplyDeletePendulum like a commentator said "hold you colour"
ReplyDeleteHow to Hack Life.
My favorite all time album would have to be Boston's self titled first album. Its the first record I bought, and I love listening to it constantly
ReplyDeleteI'll always enjoy the Beatles
ReplyDeleteYou know what's a damn shame? That's I've heard those Glee singles passed the Beatles in the number of off the chart singles. Sometimes I just wish we could go back to how it was in the past.
ReplyDeleteCan't stand The Beatles.
